Why Land Rover?

Rust Free 1967 88 inch Virgin, SOLD.  A rust-free 109 still available.

Falconworks Land Rover Service of Tucson proudly offers this truck for sale for our client:

All of its life in Arizona ... it runs and drives fine.    If you ever dreamt of driving a Series truck, here is a hassle-free way to do it.  Everything is where it should be, and nothing has been ruined, lost, rusted or otherwise made into a problem.   From our professional standpoint, this is the only cost-effective way to own a Land Rover: start with the right truck!    (editor's note: myself, I'd not tart it up, I'd just drive it like it is -- a useful Rover isn't pretty. I think my client's a fool to sell so cheap. This is not someone's pretty but used-up fantasy, like those on the market, it is a real ready-to-go Rover. Those on the market now are butchered rust-buckets loosing thier bodliy fluids everywhere. The owners are just tired of putting fingers in the dike to maintain the pretty image. I drive one, 35 years now, I know real, and I service them all day everyday too: pricewise this one is a give-away. OK, Klober the Editor and let's get on with it.)

All fluids are full, clean, and fresh, and she is serviceable as-is. Oil pressure is excellent.   Our client has asked us to "make the truck reliable enough to drive across the US and back."  We are just finishing:  all new wheel cylinders; new radiator hoses; thermostat and flush; overhauled speedometer; overhauled front swivel housings; transfer box output preload adjust and re-seal; hub bearing service; handbrake overhaul; much more.  Durnig the process he realized he needed to sell ... he bought a Disco instead (tasteless!), and he's not even driven it yet.  Scheduled completeion is 23 Dec 09 (can be ramped-up if buyer requires it). Land Rover controls

Also Michelin tyres and Wolf wheels are new, as is the ARB winch-bar.  The carb is a Weber and the two extra period-gages have been added.  Otherwise this is the most original Rover you will ever find in the desert southwest.  A "C" suffix truck, originally red, the exterior was re-painted yellow over the top -- faded to nothing in the sun, but the interior and underbonnet left original.  Minor bend to the left rocker and left-rear corner panel are the extent of body damage.  There is some Bondo in the left front wing, front inside edge.  Even the rear half of the headlinig survives (haven't seen one of those in decades)!  Wiring good.

NATO wheels and Michelin tyres, installed, five of 'em ... $1500.  ARB winch bar with towbar attach points, installed ... $1800.  Current professional Rover-specialist-repairs, not a year or two or five ago, but today ... about $7500.  A viable Land Rover attached to it all is priceless!  Now priced to sell at $9,950. Let's see: buy the tyres, front bar, and these normal Service-repairs ------- then the wheels and the truck itself are ... FREE. Drive it home ... wherever you live! No-brainer.

Factory options fitted include:  Magnatex turn signals; deluxe bonnet; Smiths heater; hand throttle; third door; left outside mirror; genuine Britax seatbelts.

Series IIA trucks were the ultimate Land Rover.  Fitted with a 2.25 liter roller-lifter petrol engine they will go-anywhere reliably, and can easily be repaired in the field, and hence their reputation -- the same one Range Rover, Defender,  and Discovery all feed off of ... to this day.   The short 88" wheebase makes for good speed and maneuverability.   The all-aluminum body construction keeps the CG very low (see left inset).  The 8-speed gearbox makes the 124lb/ft of torque keep turning the wheels ... even when the fully-boxed chassis is up a against the quintessential immovable object.  The Gods Must Be Crazy:  just try that in your common Jeep!
